Er nahm als Soldat der Wehrmacht u. a. in Frankreich am Zweiten Weltkrieg teil. 1947 kehrte er aus der Kriegsgefangenschaft zurück. Wieder in Berlin, studierte er an der Berliner Akademie. 1951 erhielt Lympasik den Berliner Kunstpreis.
